All three of NZ Idol's judges are amongst New Zealand's most experienced and respected music industry identities. But the question on everyone's lips is, "Who is going to be the nasty one?" Idol New Zealand! Meet Paul Ellis, Fiona McDonald, and Frankie Stevens, and see why they have been chosen to fill the high profile roles of Idol New Zealand's all-important judges.
Dominic Bowden is Idol New Zealand's host, and he'll be presenting the shows, interviewing the contestants before and after they perform, and providing behind-the-scenes glimpses of the competition. Idol New Zealand Dominic will also be a confidante to the contenders, helping them along the road to possible stardom.

An almost capacity audience of predominantly invited guests sit patiently as they await the dress rehearsal of Idolised '04 to begin. Before us is a very familiar stage set but without the big NZ Idol logo and video screens but with a bigger sound system and different lighting. The lights begin to dim and the roar of excitement errupts around the Bruce Mason Theatre unlike any of the audiences at the NZ Idol filmings. The shrill screams of adolescence is piercing as a voice booms out "Are you ready for Idolised '04" over the top of Terry Shore's version of the Na Na Na Na Na song. Out come Eddie, Sela, Luke, Camillia, and Dave to raptuous applause but the roof almost gets blown off as Michael comes out and again for Ben.Idols New Zealand?

Singing Extravaganza. Singing Extravaganza. Quest for a superstar. A chance for a normal, everyday person to hit superstardom. Idol New Zealand, money maker. Hang on a minute, you say. Money maker? I've never heard that before. But it's true. This world wide franchise has made someone a whole lot of money.
“Just thought I'd let you know that next Wednesday the 7th of July [approx 11pm] we are featuring a whole episode of Squeeze dedicated to Michael Murphy! I had the good fortune to become friends with Mike after working with him on Idol New Zealand, and because he's such a good guy, and because Paul Ellis and BMG are such good people, they allowed us UNPRECEDENTED access to Michael for a whole day. So our presenter Jane Yee and the Squeeze team travelled down to Taupo last week where we chatted to Michael at his house (interviewed in his bedroom!), and also spoke in depth with his family, and his band Deadset. The band gave us an exclusive performance onstage during one of their jam sessions. We even followed Michael to his old primary school where the kids put on a special performance of their own for Michael.”
